Hire Us

Damon Kirschbaum

Damon Kirschbaum
Managing Attorney

My name is Damon Kirschbaum. I am the owner and managing attorney of Kirschbaum Law Group, LLC, a Connecticut law firm with a statewide probate practice that focuses on complex and important probate disputes.

This page contains information about how to hire us. There are five steps—described in detail below—before an attorney-client relationship is created between the firm and new clients.

We do not provide free or paid pre-hiring legal consultations for three reasons.

If you decide to hire us, though, and if you subsequently decide to end our representation of you for any reason, we will immediately stop working on your case, and we will promptly return the unused funds.

Step One: Your First Call with Sophia Muce

Sophia Muce

Sophia Muce
New Client Coordinator

The first step in the process of hiring us is for you to call (860) 646-2000 to talk to Sophia Muce, our new client coordinator—but please do not call Sophia until you have read all of the information on this page!

During your first call, Sophia will get the following information from you:

Sophia will also explain the following information to you:

The purpose of the first call with Sophia is to do three things:

  1. to determine whether your case is the type of case that we would be able to help you with;
  2. to provide you with information so that you can decide whether you want to hire us; and
  3. for us to get information from you about your case so that we can decide whether we would accept your case.

The purpose of the first call with Sophia is not to provide you with legal advice. Sophia is not an attorney. She cannot give you legal advice. It would not be appropriate for us to give you legal advice until you hire us.

Please do not provide Sophia with confidential information. It would not be protected by the attorney-client privilege. Information is only protected by the attorney-client privilege when there is an attorney-client relationship. We would not have an attorney-client relationship with you until after you hire us.

Step Two: We Review Your Case

After your first call with Sophia, if you are interested in hiring us, Damon will review your case to decide whether he is willing to accept it.

Sophia will provide Damon with the information about your case. If Damon needs more information, he will ask Sophia to call you again to get it.

Damon will decide promptly whether he is willing to accept your case once he has all of the necessary information.

The factors that Damon considers when deciding whether to accept a case include the type of case, the facts of the case, whether we have the capacity to accept the new case, and other factors related to whether the case and the potential new client would be a good fit for the firm.

Step Three: We Tell You Whether We Would Accept Your Case

After Damon decides whether he would be willing to accept your case, Sophia will promptly call you again to tell you about Damon's decision.

Step Four: You Decide Whether to Hire Us

If Damon is willing to accept your case, you would then have the opportunity to decide whether you want to hire us.

Some new clients decide to hire us immediately. Other new clients will take some time to decide. There is no rush.

Step Five: We Create the Attorney-Client Relationship

If you decide to hire us, we will need three things:

After we get these three things, there will be an attorney-client relationship.

After the attorney-client relationship is created, Damon will promptly call you to start working on your case.

New clients are asked to provide us with copies of all relevant materials by uploading them to a secure online service, and Damon will promptly file his appearance on your behalf in the probate court, if there is already a probate court case pending.

Sometimes it makes sense for Damon to call the new client after he has read the materials provided to us by the new client, if any, and after he has read the probate court documents. Other times, though, it makes sense for Damon to call the new client as soon as possible. It depends on the facts and circumstances of the case.

During the first call with Damon, he will:

Supervising Attorney

After your first call with Damon, he may or may not start delegating work to one of the attorneys on his team. Either way, Damon will remain involved with your case, and he will be easily available for you to contact by email and telephone. (All clients have Damon's mobile telephone number for texting and calling.)
