We help people in conservatorship proceedings, which are legal proceedings for helping adults who are not capable of managing their own affairs.

Types of Conservatorships

There are two types of conservatorships:

Involuntary conservatorships are initiated when someone (the petitioner) files a petition for involuntary conservatorship for another person (the respondent).
Voluntary conservatorships are initiated when someone files a petition for a voluntary conservatorship for themselves.

Who We Represent

We represent people in conservatorship proceedings who want to become a conservator for another person, who are serving as a conservator for another person, and who are interested parties in a conservatorship proceeding.

An interested party would typically be a family member of a respondent in a conservatorship proceeding, or a family member of a person who is conserved.

We typically do not represent respondents in involuntary conservatorship proceedings, petitioners in voluntary conservatorship proceedings, or people who are conserved.

How We Help

We help conservators comply with their fiduciary duties to conserved people.

We also help other people—such as the spouses, children, and parents of conserved people—protect the rights of their loved ones who are conserved.
